In organizations which are either growing rapidly or in need of significant change and improvement, an experienced outside influence can often be helpful --- acting in collaboration with and sometimes on behalf of the CEO, and thus serving as a “quasi Senior Executive Vice President.”
The aim of this role is again found in its title, ACCOUNTABILITY & SUCCESS, and the activities typically include
(1) the development of a short-form Annual Plan with selected Key Initiatives;
(2) identification of expected goals and key metrics which drive success;
(3) a Management Action Plan with clear timelines and accountabilities which is then actively managed and used as a tool for planning and routine progress reviews; and
(4) a regular process of updates, inquiry, dialogue, new ideas, and motivation with the organization’s leaders / business unit leaders to help achieve optimum results.
